韩国浦项理工大学

     浦项科技大学(浦项工科大学,浦项理工大学)(Pohang University of Science and Technology),简称POSTECH,成立于1986年,是韩国第一所研究导向型大学,在短暂的20余年的时间里迅猛发展,以“提供最好的教育,进行最尖端的科学研究,服务国家乃至全世界”为其办学理念,如今已发展成为了世界顶尖的研究导向型科技大学。目前在校生规模3000人,访问学者和研究员100人,教授250名。全校校园面积165公顷,位于韩国东南的一个沿海城市,设施一流。浦项科技大学是目前韩国工科实力最强的大学之一,为环太平洋大学联盟成员。

     We announce position openings up to two postdoc researchers in the computational condensed matter, especially for correlated systems and high-pressure physics. The projects will be lead by Professor Ji Hoon Shim (POSTECH, republic of Korea, http://dmft.postech.ac.kr/) and Duck Young Kim (HPSTAR, China, http://hpstar.ac.cn/), jointly. Successful applicants will have ample opportunity to work at both research bodies in Korea and China to collaborate with in-house experimentalists as well as to have full access to computational research resources of both groups.

Projects:

1) correlated materials study: We study strongly correlated electron system covering heavy fermion, transition metal compounds, as well as molecular orbital system. Using density function theory combined with many body physics, we investigate the correlated electron phenomena in the change of pressure, temperature, doping, Hund's coupling etc.
2) high-pressure physics We study materials under high pressure including structural phase transition, physical property change of materials. We have many collaborators in experiments who can synthesize/measure the computationally predicted materials.

Qualification:

We are searching for motivated independent researchers in the field of computational physics, chemistry, and materials science.

Salary:

60 M ~ 65 M KRW (approximately 31k ~ 34k RMB, dependent on skills and experience)

Location:

Mainly at POSTECH, south Korea
