Postdoc Position Available at University of North Dakota, US.
The departments of petroleum engineering, biomedical sciences and mechanical engineering, in a joint effort, invite applications for a 12-month, post-doctoral research fellow. the initial appointment is for one year and is renewable for a second year, pending annual review of performance and continued availability of funding. the appointment will be full-time and benefitted . the pi (dr. ostadhassan) looks for a fellow to perform independent research across multiple areas, such as: (a) the use and development of computational biological tools in microbial genomic-enabled data analysis, (b) anaerobic microbial physiology/biochemistry, and (c) understanding cancer progression from molecular point of view.
The individuals hired will have the opportunity to substantially shape their research direction within the scope of several ongoing projects that are well supported by petroleum industry. we seek creative phd scientists with a publication track record in the field of microbial and/or phage community analysis, biogeochemistry, or microbial metabolism, metagenomics and bioinformatics, and cancer research. research areas specifically relevant to this hire include understanding microbiomes, predicting metabolic pathways for unknown species, harnessing microbial metabolism for sulfur generation, and developing metagenomic knowledge of specific microbial organisms.
this is a two-years position funder by und office of vice president for research; however, it can be extended for three to five years of support from petroleum industry in particular.
